MacGregor Arctic Expedition to Etah, Greenland, set sail from Port Newark, New Jersey, on July 1, 1937, for Lunenberg, Nova Scotia. The purpose of the expedition was to collect weather data. On the homeward leg, the Baffin Bay ice jam held the ship for six weeks. The expedition encountered a tropical hurricane in September 1938 on the way back to New Jersey.
